We are learning a LOT about the Disney Wish!

Today, Disney is hosting the “Once Upon a Disney Wish” event to reveal a LOT of details about the upcoming Disney Cruise Line ship. We’ve already learned when we’ll be able to book our first voyage aboard, and now we know about a surprising and exciting offering on the ship!
During the event, Disney referenced an “out of this galaxy,” experience on board with Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge. Um…a STAR WARS LOUNGE!? ON A CRUISE SHIP!? That’s SO neat!

During the day, families will be able to “experience this interstellar watering hole.” According to StarWars.com and their interview with Imagineer Danny Handke, there will be plenty of non-alcoholic drinks available as well.
But in the evening the lounge will “jump to lightspeed” and become an adults-only space. There will be “otherworldly concoctions,” including “signature beverages inspired by the films.” There will also be interactive tasting experiences!
What will the available drinks include? Well, according to StarWars.com and Handke, “all beverages are being created from scratch, from beer to blue milk — meaning each will be different from anything found at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.“

The interior will be designed with sleek, metallic detailing inspired by “lavish star cruisers” similar to Dryden Vos’ ship in Solo: A Star Wars Story. Gold will feature prominently throughout the lounge. And throughout the space there will be all kinds of Easter eggs for big Star Wars fans!
But, you won’t just be there to sip some otherworldly drinks and to admire some of the decorations. When you enter this lounge, you’ll “embark on a space-jumping tour of the Star Wars galaxy.” While guests sip their drinks, the virtually-enhanced space will transport them (using hyperspace, of course) to iconic Star Wars locations including:
- Tatooine (set during The Mandalorian),
- Mustafar (set during the Rogue One: A Star Wars Story era,
- Batuu (which is said to be like a day in the life of Galaxy’s Edge featuring the Star Destroyer from Rise of the Resistance and Hondo Ohnaka’s ship),
- Coruscant, and
- Endor.
As you “travel” through the spaces, sensational scenes will unfold just beyond the ship’s panoramic viewport.
According to Handke, the Endor scene is actually his favorite. Guests will actually see a skirmish scene, “where Resistance and the First Order are fighting each other. You get the laser fire, you get the TIE fighter explosion, and then at the very end we have these three X-wings that come down in front of our screen and protect us.”
Out the window, guests will see everything from serene vistas to action-packed encounters, making for an immersive story-driven lounge experience. You’ll also want to keep an eye out for some famous space ships! Add surround-sound audio and a holotube that presents holographic models and transmissions from nearby ships and you’ve got a very cool space.
Handke notes that the viewport will be created by that 7-pane window you can see in the concept art. Handke says they worked with ILM on these visual effects, and they’ve worked in all sorts of Easter eggs.
But, you won’t just be jumping to different planets. You’ll also be jumping to different time periods, as we’ve noted above. You will be visiting places from the eras of the Republic, Empire and First Order.
Handke says, “We want to see a little bit of Empire-era Star Destroyers and TIE fighters…And we want to see the Resistance from the First Order era, the prequel era, a familiar ship from The Mandalorian, and Rogue One.”
Handke says guests should “Think of it like a party ship through the galaxy. We’re jumping to different locations and getting a tour of space, and sampling amazing drinks from those different planets.”
During a question and answer session, one Disney Cruise Line official also noted that he could only imagine a little bit of “robotic magic” will be part of the experience as well. Disney hasn’t shared what that means yet, but we did recently hear about how animatronic bartenders were once considered for part of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. We can’t wait to see more about what “robotic magic” might come to Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge.

Also, we want to note that this space sounds similar in some ways to Skyline, an adults-only lounge space we’ve seen on some other Disney Cruise Line ships that utilizes special technology to give guests “windows to the world.” In Skyline, guests at the lounge could look out at different cities every 15 minutes as the windows magically transformed from one city to the next.
It sounds like Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge will be somewhat similar, but we’ll just have to wait for Disney to share more details to get a complete look at exactly what the space will be like.
Right now, Disney shows this lounge on Deck 3 near the Walt Disney Theatre.
