Today, Disney World is hosting their 2021 Annual Meeting of Shareholders, where a number of business items will be discussed along with potential announcements from Disney Parks, Studios, Direct-to-Consumer, and more!
As the meeting began, Disney’s Chairman and former CEO Bob Iger made opening remarks, where he shared comments on the end of his time with the company.
Bob Iger shared that, at the end of 2021, he will step down from the company after a 47-year long career with Disney. Iger previously announced that he will step down in 2021, after his original plans to step down in 2018 were extended twice.
When Bob Iger stepped down as CEO in February of 2020 and was replaced by Bob Chapek, he assumed role of Executive Chairman. During that announcement, it was shared that he would hold the position of Executive Chairman until the end of 2021. Later in the meeting, Bob Chapek expressed his appreciation for Iger’s mentorship and looks forward to building on Iger’s legacy.
