When Disney World opened, the parks were operating at 25% capacity, but that was later increased to 35%.

During today’s Earnings Call, we learned that the parks have currently remained at 35% capacity. But, what will it take for capacity to increase again? Here’s what Disney’s CEO had to say today.
During the Earnings Call today, one individual asked how Disney is thinking about the parks for the rest of this year and if Disney expects to be able to increase capacity limits. Disney’s current Chief Executive Officer, Bob Chapek, responded by saying that whether Disney will be able to increase capacity is really going to be determined by the rate of vaccinations of the public.

Tree of Life
Chapek noted that the number of vaccinations of the public is really the biggest lever the company has either to increase capacity or to reopen parks that are currently closed. He also shared that Disney has ample demand for its parks.

And Chapek said that he feels Disney has made a pretty big impression on its consumer base and prospective guests in terms of the safety measures they’ve got in place to give assurances to people that they should come to the Disney parks and bring their families.

Disney World’s Health and Safety Signs
At the moment, COVID-19 vaccines are being distributed throughout the United States. They’re even being distributed at Disneyland Resort in California which is acting as a vaccination site. In fact, more than 100,000 doses of the vaccine have been distributed at the Disneyland location.
Infectious disease expert Dr. Anthony Fauci has previously indicated that 70-85% of U.S. adults could be vaccinated by the end of the summer and the United States could return to some normalcy by the fall.

We’ll definitely be on the lookout for key COVID-19 information that you should know ahead of your upcoming Disney trips and watch for any updates on Disney park capacity levels. Be sure to come back for all the latest Disney news.
What it will take is for Disney leadership to stop being afraid of their own shadows and to just plain start increasing capacity and relaxing their mitigations. The rest of Florida is open and doing well. So well Disney is looking to move their California operations to Florida. Universal has managed to relax some of their own virus mitigation capacity constraints and they are doing well. At some point Disney has to realize that there will be some sort of risks involved with being around people. and guests will decide for themselves what risks they are willing to take. The more people come to the parks the more others will believe that it’s relatively safe. They need to be pushing for more relaxed measures vs trying to appear that they are doing everything possible to make its super duper safe, really guys were safe! Come on down! We meanbit, even though we’re not actually acting like it’s safe.
I think ? that Disneyland is going to open up again either this summer or this spring ?☺️?????❤️????❤️☺️?????❤️?? because the vaccine for COVID-19 by AstraZeneca and Johnson and Johnson are going to be approved this week and next month and they will speed up the vaccination. Therefore, Disneyland is going to open up again either this summer or this spring and, at the same time Disneyland opens up again, the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique and the Royal Hall ????☺️?????❤️????❤️☺️?????❤️?? will become available and little girls will get princess makeovers at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique and hugs ? from Ariel, Snow White and Cinderella in the Royal Hall ????☺️?????❤️????❤️☺️?????❤️??.
I do not believe for one second that Disney World is operating at 35% capacity. I was there on Saturday and was so intensely uncomfortable with the amount of people that were there. We also noticed a massive lack of cast members, and so did those that did not want to wear their masks. Way too many people were getting away with not having their masks above their noses and in some cases not wearing them at all. Of course I’m not speaking about people eating or drinking off to the side or at a table. But so many people were roaming around seeing the sights and acting as if Covid did not exist. There was almost no one to say anything to them. It was very disappointing. I have had my first vaccination because I am a healthcare worker, but my husband who is a teacher has not and he was extremely uncomfortable. We ended up leaving mid day because we just couldn’t take the anxiety of it all.
In response to a previous comment, Florida is not “doing well” concerning the COVID-19 spread. If you read the DFB article entitled “5 Big Updates that Could Seriously Impact Your Disney Plans”, it states that “cases of the COVID-19 UK variant have already appeared in Florida, “Including in Orange County where Disney World is located”; and that the “UK variant now accounts for 15% of the cases in Florida and is rapidly spreading there.” So no, Florida is not out of the woods when it comes to COVID-19 spread. It’s ridiculous to think that Disney World should just lift restrictions, let everyone in and let them take their chances. It’s wrong thinking like that which has caused the virus to spread so rapidly and to impact so many lives in a very devastating way. Disney is doing the right thing by keeping a very tight lid on their safety restrictions and doing the best they can to protect their guest.
I was looking at a video at Magic Kingdom that was taken over Valentine’s Day weekend. The crowds looked like they did before Covid definitely looked like more than 35% . People were standing shoulder to shoulder watching a parade with no social distancing and did not see any cast members there to control the group. Is Disney relaxing there rules?
