It’s now 2021, which means that it’s officially the year of Disney’s 50th Anniversary!
Since this is a milestone year, it makes sense that it would be a big draw for guests to visit! However, Disney World has seen lots of changes this past year. So we’ve found ourselves wondering if potential visitors are still planning to visit Disney World this year, and we asked YOU!
Disney’s official 50th birthday is on October 1st. And if it’s been a few years since you’ve last visited the Most Magical Place on Earth, there are lots of new things to check out. There are fairly new attractions to experience, like Rise of the Resistance and Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway.
Disney Springs has just welcomed TWO new sweet spots for you to check out on your next trip — Gideon’s Bakehouse and Everglazed Donuts & Cold Brew.
This year will see the debut of new attractions, like Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, coming to EPCOT! The park also recently revealed a stunning, new fountain!
Although there are lots of new and exciting things to see, it seems that a handful of projects may not be opening on time for the 50th Anniversary. USA Today recently speculated that certain upcoming attractions, like TRON Lightcycle Run and Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana will likely be delayed.
It also comes as no surprise that Disney World looks pretty different than we’re accustomed to at the moment. With social distancing markers, mandatory masks, and the absence of staples like fireworks and FastPass+, there have been many changes. All these changes may encourage guests to postpone their trips.
So, we asked our Instagram followers if they’d still be visiting Disney World this year, and here’s what they said! 67% responded “yes,” that they are still planning to visit this year, the other 33% responded “no,” that they won’t be visiting.
It appears that more than half of respondents shared that they’re still going to visit Disney World for its 50th Anniversary even with all the changes and attraction delays.
We’ll be on the lookout for information regarding upcoming projects and any special celebrations for the big anniversary, so be sure to check back with us! Follow along with us on Instagram for more interactive polls, trivia, and daily photos and videos from Disney World!

Will YOU be visiting Disney World this year? Tell us in the comments!
It not just that the new attractions will not be completed. But also the new schedules and cut backs on programs and experinces.
Disney is going to push people away from the parks. No more Magical Express, No luggage Delivery, No Meet and Greet. No extra hours before or after, No Parties, No Fireworks, No live shows, No Dining Plans. Few and restricted dining venues. No Park Hopper, No Fast Pass.
Even with the so called limited entry numbers lines are very long. Ticket Prices going up.
I live in Washington State. THats a long way to travel for not so much in return. I think Discovery Cove, Sea World, Universal will be seeing former Disney Guests migrating to those Parks.
Disney is missing what used to be what drew people to Disney…..The Magic
Although we had hoped to visit this year for the 50th as we also made the trip to Disneyland for the 50th there, we will sadly not be making the trip to WDW this year. Wearing a mask outdoors and all throughout our visit is too much. We will delay our trip until we can visit without social distancing and masks. We also want to wait for Tron to open.
I am very puzzled that people are even still considering going anywhere as there is a “Pandemic” going on! Is going to Disneyworld worth dying?!
Our annual May trip is scheduled. And looking forward to it. I know this does not count as the 50th celebration. I’m sure we will be part of that on next year’s trip. Disney likes to drag out these celebrations.
We had a trip scheduled, but, due to the pandemic, we had to cancel. 🙁
I would love to see the results at the end of the year to see how accurate your “poll” was. I bet it shows that the 67% was “hoping” to go to Disneyworld, but a smaller percentage will actually be going. With Disney removing more of the “Magic” ( raising prices, cutting operational hours / eliminating Extra Magic Hours, cutting airport transportation, cutting free magic bands, etc.) the true core Disney fans are being “taken for Granted”. Walt would not accept or tolerate this type of treatment to his dedicated customers………..Who has a 50th Anniversary celebration by raising prices and taking away valued amenities?
How can I be sent these surveys?
Danielle, DFB surveys are usually in our Instagram stories or on Facebook.
Also, I wish there was another way to participate in surveys other than crappy social media sites.
Thank you so much! I do not frequent Facebook but I do Instagram and I will start paying more attention to the links that are placed in the bio section.
Already been late last year and headed back in January and April in 2021. Wearing mask and getting vaccine . Enjoy WDW. Never know what this year will bring. Captain jim
Pris, sharing your thoughts with the team. I’ll let you know what I find out!
I agree with Pris! The social media sites have just become completely undesirable.
I was thee when it opened in 71 and I have my badge that was given out I will most def·i·nite·ly be there this year
I plan to return to WDW sometime Not until they reinstate most of the entertainment they have taken away I can’t justify spending that money to see nothing I am having withdrawal knowing i can’t go to the park It has been two years since i have been there Hoping for the best
We had a trip scheduled last Oct. and rescheduled to this April, which we also canceled. We have a trip scheduled for Oct. of this year but it is beginning to, look like this will also be canceled due to the restrictions and lack of a dining plan, fireworks, parades, traditional park hopping, character meet and greet, buffets. and especially masks in the Florida heat and humidity.
