Just about everybody and their Uncle is obsessed with EPCOT’s new pylons right now!
In case you’ve slept on the EPCOT news the week, three clear acrylic pylons were recently installed in front of Spaceship Earth as part of a new entryway fountain for World Celebration — one of three new distinct neighborhoods Future World is being divvied up into.
The new pylons seem to magically reflect the sun’s light and also look really cool at night thanks to some special lighting effects! Disney World Imagineer and Site Portfolio Executive Zach Riddley shared some photos and details about the new entrance fountain before we got to see it with our very own eyes!
Riddley explained that the design team “took special interest in looking back to the original geometry for inspiration and infusing new features with a little bit of added magic to bridge the past, present, and future of EPCOT.” Now, Riddley posted a video on his Instagram showing how the pylons were made and eventually put into place!

Looks great… can’t wait to see it when it is lit up…
So my question is…
Are these the exact same pylons from 1982?
Or did they recreate them? Cause they look identical.
Brandon, on his Instagram post, Zach Riddley said this: “Our design team took special interest in looking back to the original geometry for inspiration and infusing new features with a little bit of added magic to bridge the past, present and future of EPCOT.” So it sounds like they’re new but heavily inspired.
