We’ve been keeping a close eye on the Cinderella Castle refurbishment!
There was a lot of preparation involved in refurbishing Cinderella Castle — as we saw with the “paint-by-number” situation on the castle earlier this summer! In order to complete the updates, the surrounding moat was drained, and we hadn’t seen it returned to its former glory since the parks reopened — until today!
That’s right, on our visit to Magic Kingdom today we noticed that the Cinderella Castle moat is full once again!
Oh, how we LOVE seeing that gorgeous castle reflected in the water!
It definitely adds a little something extra to the ambiance of the park when we get to walk across a full moat while crossing the bridges surrounding the castle!
The return of the Cinderella Castle moat wasn’t the only exciting construction-related change we spotted today! Over in EPCOT, we also caught a glimpse of the new pylons near the entrance, as well as work on the new PLAY! Pavilion and the additions to the France Pavilion! It seems like things are movin’ and shakin’ in Disney World!

Maybe I’m the only one, but while I’m glad there’s water back in the moat, the river/moat has never looked themed/magical to me…seeing the CEMENT canal, dark water, plain mowed lawns… Look at the theming on the side of the castle where it meets the water, with the rock-work and trees! Look at what imagineering did at the renovated Disney Springs with the water/rock/plants/etc. I just think imagineering do such an amazing job with the entire rest of the park, why skip on the part surrounding the castle?
I love the look, I only wish I had ridden the Swan Boats Back in the day that used to run the waters of the castle back in the 1970’s
