Things are looking a little bit different today in Animal Kingdom’s DinoLand U.S.A. We paid a visit to this section which hosts the park’s very own wacky and whimsical street carnival… and just so happens to be home to Primeval Whirl.
The attraction had only been operating seasonally for some time. However, it was recently revealed that Primeval Whirl is one of three attractions permanently closing in Walt Disney World.
And today, a visit to Primeval Whirl shows that the work of the permanent closure has begun in earnest, as ride vehicles have been removed from the winding, whirling tracks.
Swirling spins, dizzying drops, and punny humor made up this roadside attraction. And even though it has not been open to guests on a regular basis for a while now, it still had its share of fans… including yours truly.
For those of us who are sad to see it go, we echo the sentiment of one of the charmingly silly signs in the attraction: “This really extincts.”

Boooooooooooooo!!!!!
Looking forward to see what they do with that space. I love the Dinosaur ride and think the character meet & greets there are adorable, but Dinoland as a whole just doesn’t really … fit.
I know I may be in the minority, but I really loved Primeval Whirl and will miss it. I don’t know why, because rides that twirl usually make me sick, but this one didn’t.
Carly, Joe Rohde had some things to say about that earlier this year on Instagram!
