Disney’s Hollywood Studios officially reopened last week, and we’ve been checking it out to see what it’s like to spend a day in the park!
We’ve noticed that so far, the wait times for attractions in Hollywood Studios have tended to be the longest of the four parks. And with Rise of the Resistance using a virtual queue, we’ve found that Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway has regularly had the longest line in the park. So, if you’re going to be spending a decent amount of time in the queue, you might as well know what you’re in for along the way!
We spotted a Cast Member holding a sign outside of the attraction to help direct guests to the start of the queue!
And since social distancing can make the queues look a bit confusing, there was another Cast Member holding a sign at the end of the line!
As with other queues throughout the parks, there are social distancing markers throughout the line to show guests the proper space between parties.
There is space left between the line switchbacks to ensure guests can maintain distance, and there are umbrellas throughout the outside portion of the queue for shade!
Let’s head inside to take a look at the rest of the queue!
There are social distancing markers throughout the indoor portion of the queue as well.
There’s also space left between potential line switchbacks throughout the indoor portion of the queue.
In some places where a close switchback is unavoidable, there’s yellow and black tape to show guests not to stand close to the railing.
At this point in the line, each party is directed to a number on which to stand.
There are plexiglass dividers in the loading area!
There is hand sanitizer available to guests right before they get on the attraction — it’s visible in the far right of the photo below!
All aboard!
Based on the wait times we’ve seen since the park reopening, there will probably be a line for Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway if you head to Hollywood Studios in the near future. If that’s the case, now you know what to expect during your time in the queue!
From merchandise to food, check out what’s new in EPCOT!

Have you had the chance to ride Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway? Let us know in the comments!
It sounds interesting and I have been looking forward to its opening and my appearance… ( sorry, leftover lingo from the previous attraction..) I am unable to tell from the pictures you provided…, does the runaway railway run on rails, tires, or is it similar to the theater box movement from the Great Movie Ride. What is the speed, slow and steady, does it increase and decrease, and is it ok for elderly guests to ride. Can you give us any inkling of what is inside ?
Disney rides with distant markers if people use it the right way that will be ? great !People pay a lot of money and think they can go and do what ever they they want to do !
Ken, if you go do a search on YouTube, there are videos out there showing the entire Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway ride. The cars look like they move independently, similar to the cars in Rise of the Resistance. The cars don’t always move on a steady, straight basis, and in some points (like when you find yourself in Daisy’s ballet class), the cars make some starts, stops and turns. You might want to check out a video of the ride and gauge for yourself whether it would be suitable for the folks in your party.
Ken, the ride is trackless and really smooth. I will say there are a couple of times (without spoiling it) where you do get jerked to the side a few times, but it’s nothing really bad. The ride is slow, so pretty much anyone can enjoy it. It’s one of the most visually interesting rides I’ve been on and saw things I didn’t see before with each subsequent ride.
