As many of you may know, Disney is implementing a BRAND NEW reservation system for their grand reopening and up until this point, we had VERY few details on how the system would operate.

Now, Disney World has just released ALL the details on when this new system will go live and what guests will need to do in order to get a reservation.
Beginning June 22, Disney Resort guests and other select hotel guests with valid theme park admission can make reservations. On June 26th, Annual Passholders WITHOUT a resort stay can make reservations. Then on June 28, existing ticket holders can make reservations.

These theme park reservations will be available through September 26, 2021, and will be based on your resort stay and ticket eligibility or ticket eligibility window.

Additional Details
Disney has shared a few specific details regarding reservations. For starters, “reservations are limited and subject to availability and are not guaranteed until a reservation is finalized.”
Disney also shared information about park hopping. When the parks reopen, guests will initially be able to select ONEĀ park per day. Park hopping will be temporarily unavailable due to capacity limits.Ā

A reservation MUST be made EACH day of entry. That means that even if you have a multi-day ticket, you will need to make a park reservation for each day you plan to visit the parks.
Disney highly recommends “that you make your park reservation as soon as you complete your ticket purchase, as availability can change until the reservation is finalized.”
Future Disney Vacation Details
According to Disney, “If you booked a vacation package, your ticket eligibility is tied to your package travel dates. To make a park reservation for a different date, be sure to modify your vacation package dates.”
Ticket Sales and Hotel Reservations
Disney is planning to resume ticket sales and new hotel reservations later this summer.

2021 Vacation Information
Now, for those of you who have a hotel stay at a Disney Resort or other select hotel in 2021, Disney has said to “please call the Disney Reservation Center or call your travel professional beginning on June 24 to upgrade to a vacation package with ticketsāand then make your theme park reservations.”

My husbands annual pass expires June 22nd. Does he have to renew his pass before the reservation system opens up or will they add the extra days for park closure by then?
If we paid extra for park hopper did Disney say if they will reimburse the difference?

Jeanie, we expect it will be 7AM, but Disney has not confirmed this. (Of course, there could be delays, or Disney could change its mind.)
What would the procedure be for DVC members who have a booked August resort stay, but havenāt purchased tickets yet?
Doralicia, here’s the language from the information drop today: “Guests with existing tickets that include the Park Hopper Option or Park Hopper Plus Option have options available to them for ticket modifications and cancellations, and can visit DisneyWorld.com/Updates for more information.”
Donna, I would call to check on this.
Let me get this straight we’re supposed to pick a park before we even know whether we get dining reservations. Why can’t Disney get their act together and stop being so cagey. It would have been much simpler if they allowed you to make a dining reservation, and if you chose let’s say brown derby, the next question would be do you want to make this year part for the day. How many of us had had to rearrange park days in order to get the dining reservations that we want. As an AP living in California I find this whole thing very unDisney like. We purchased an annual pass that allows us to park hop and get in any park we want and now we can’t. We live across the country and we’re not even going to get our three visits in this year to make the pass worthwhile. and Disney offers no compensation at all for taking your money and then changing the rules. they’re giving more consideration to the NBA and MLS than they are their guests which are their bread and butter. If I could get a refund for both my annual passes I wouldn’t go again for a long time. Sad

We have hopper tickets for November. With everything so up in the air right now, I wonder what’s going to happen by then. We planned the November trip to enjoy the Christmas festivities. With the Halloween party canceled, I really hope they don’t cancel the Christmas party as well!

Jay, this is what Disney says for folks with Resort-only reservations: “If you have a room-only reservation at a Disney Resort or other select hotel for a stay in 2021, please call the Disney Reservation Center or call your travel professional beginning on June 24 to upgrade to a vacation package with ticketsāand then make your theme park reservations.” In your case, you might want to call DVC member services (soon, possibly not waiting until 6/24) to see if they can help.
What can I do if I have a resort reservation for Aug but I donāt have park tickets yet? Any ideas?

I have a Disney hotel room only reservation for July 26-29. I also have tickets not part of a package tied to my resort reservation. With the reduction of amenities, I think I might cancel my resort reservation. If I make park reservations in the resort window for making park reservations, will my park reservation be cancelled with my resort cancellation even if I have seperate tickets? I donāt know if they will be handling it like they do fast passes when people cancel a resort reservation for example (back when fast pass was still available).
How far out can you make a reservation? Will it be like fast passes and be 30 days out or could we make them as far out as we want. Also if you have black out dates do u have to wait until they are lifted in order to make a reservation.

I guess we won’t be going to WDW anytime soon š We used to go regularly every two years or so and would get annual Passes. But we do not like the further narrowing of restrictions as to where and when we can go where.
Not knowing the weather for a particular day or what mood we might be in, we used to decide the night before and sometimes after getting to a park and doing a ride or two, decide to switch to another park. No Park Hopping is a deal breaker. If things are so regimented, (do this now, not later, go here etc.) it is not a vacation anymore.

Hate that you links never take you to the Disney site. For example “BRAND NEW reservation system” takes you to another DFB post instead of the Disney reservation system.
I just got an email from Disney Destinations that I can make Park reservations on 6/22, but I have a room only reservation (for January 2021). Thereās no way I am upgrading to a package or buying Park tickets without knowing what is going on later in the year because that would also move up my cancellation date and Iām not sure if we are going to go.
So since I only have a room only reservation, did they send me the email in error?

John, that’ll be a decision you’ll have to make, and we have no way of knowing just how difficult it will be to get reservations. But if you do want to make reservations ASAP, Disney says this: “If you have a room-only reservation at a Disney Resort or other select hotel for a stay in 2021, please call the Disney Reservation Center or call your travel professional beginning on June 24 to upgrade to a vacation package with ticketsāand then make your theme park reservations.” Good luck!
Dani, I think that depends on how you feel about everything that’s going on. Some folks will because they want to be sure they have confirmed Park reservations; others are less concerned about that. Unfortunately we have no gauge on how quickly these reservations are going to go when they’re released.
Very disappointing. People with hotel reservations without tickets can’t do anything right now and just have to hope and pray the dates are open for them? I think not. My daughter is getting married at Disney in October, I hope, and most who have booked rooms for extra days did not purchase tickets yet and I committed to purchasing those rooms. Personally I have 8 rooms at OKW myself and only 2 of the 8 rooms purchased tickets (I was one). Others have said they will cancel or reduce the number of nights if they can’t get park tickets so I will be stuck paying for any unsold rooms. Thanks Disney!
Donna, great question. Our understanding is it will NOT be available via My Disney Experience. So a desktop or attempting on a phone/tablet browser is the only option. If this changes, we will update!

I received an email from disney about my stay in July and the park reservations system! They said that once the reservation system opens at 7am, you can make your reservations through your MDE app! Just make sure you have your park tickets linked to your account!
