When Disney World temporarily closed in March, it raised A LOT of questions for Annual Passholders!
Shortly after the theme parks’ temporary closure was updated to “until further notice,” Passholders who had paid in full were told their Disney World Annual Passes would be automatically extended for the number of days the parks remained closed. Well, we’ve been getting concerned that those extensions still haven’t come, and we’re hoping to make Theme Park reservations soon. But there seems to be some Annual Pass movement today.
One Annual Passholder reached out to say that their expiration date had in fact been extended by the length of the closure. Here’s a screenshot, taken yesterday, of the original date for the extended Florida Resident Disney Weekday Select Annual Pass…
…and here’s the updated date screenshot, taken today! That’s 117 days added to that Annual Pass.
As a reminder, Disney World will have been closed for 117 days when the parks reopen — from March 15th through July 11th. Annual Passes should be extended by the number of active days on your individual pass that were impacted by the closure.
At press time, none of the Annual Passholders on our team are seeing any changes to their original Annual Pass expiration dates yet.
Learn more about Disney World’s new Annual Passholder policies here!
Keep in mind — Disney World will only be extending Annual Passes for members that have already paid in full or have chosen to postpone their monthly payments.
We’ll be keeping a close eye on the situation to see if Annual Pass extensions begin to roll out in full. Drop us a line @DisneyFoodBlog on instagram or twitter if you see movement on your pass expiration date so that we can let our readers know. Are you a Disney World annual passholder? Let us know in the comments below!
My annual pass was just extended from July to November. Works out well as I have a trip booked for the end of October.
My Dec 6 expiration has NOT been extended yet. FYI
My annual pass has disappeared from the app completely (expired in May). Should I try manually adding it back or wait? It was paid in full and I’m afraid Disney won’t show a new expiration date for me.
I have a Platinum Annual Pass (fully paid) that expires in November. I haven’t seen any update on the expiration date yet.
My pass was extended from Nov to March 2021
Mine have been extended from May 22 ,2021 to September 16,2021
Any word on the pass holder magnets leftover from flower and garden?
Mine expired June 1st and it was extended to September 26th. Not quite the amount of days I’ve counted for them being closed and should be extended but I’ll take it.
Our annual pass expired May 14 , 2020. We renewed and until two days ago showed a May 14 , 2021 expiration.
We checked today and saw
FL Res. Disney Platinum Pass
Age: 10+
Expires: Wed, Sep 8, 2021
We had three reservations cancelled during the shutdown but still have a September trip (Contemporary) and a December trip (Grand Floridian) on the books. Can’t wait to get back.
This statement:” If you are on a monthly payment plan and have opted out of paying for your membership while the parks have been closed, your Disney World Annual Pass will expire on its original date.”, contradicts the one below:
Also for Passholders on the Annual Pass Monthly Payment Program, as an alternative to the above, Passholders may postpone their monthly payments through the parks closure, with payments resuming when the parks reopen. “Postponed payments will be collected in the months following the end of the Passholder’s currently scheduled payment term,” with the Pass to be extended for the number of days the parks are closed.
My family’s passes have been updated. Original expiration date of 12/12/2020, now reflects 4/8/2021
What about those of us who opted to not extend our passes, and instead take a refund on those 117 days? When will we receive that refund?
Ours expired on 4/23 and disappeared a few weeks ago. They are back today with 8/18 expiration. Perfect for my 7/24 trip
I am a pass member. I don’t think the extension will help me. I am wondering how much money I would get if I took that option. I will find out soon. Thanks AJ for all the info!
How about the Florida resident 4 day passes?
I just went to check mine – would have expired April 22. And it says I don’t have any linked Annual Pass or Membership! I tried to re-link with the code on my AP card, but no luck! Not sure what that is all about. Was hoping to avoid having to call in as I’m sure wait times are high. 🙁
Our family’s annual passes still have the original expiration date which was yesterday. In all honesty I’m fairly perturbed at the way Disney has handled this entire situation and we are seriously considering not renewing. This is our tenth year as AP’s.
My Florida Weekday pass that was going to expire on Dec 10, 2020, still says that .
Update to my last comment/question. I went and looked at our passes today 7/18/20. And yes they have been updated. November 2020 to March 2021. Out of state passes. I have heard to that WDW could do what they did for Shanghai annual passes. And that is to extend passes the length of the reservation system will in use/until it ends. Is there any truth to any of that?
Mine was extended, but since the reservation system is still uncertain, and parks limited to one a day and no guarantee of getting in one every day, still does not seem like a great return on money currently.
Just checked. Mine hasn’t been extended yet, but I had to renew my pass in the middle of all this. My original expire date is April 12, 2021. I’ll be checking back daily. Thanks for the heads up!
Our passes have been extended to the end of May 2021
My 09/19/20 Pass has not been extended yet, I called WDW Passholder line spoke with Rep because at this time, I have decided to take a refund because I cannot get back to the park even with the extension. I was told the department I spoke with cannot add in my 117 days NOR can she process a refund and my request had to go to “escalation department ” They took my cell and somebody would be calling me, that was 2 wks ago…still havent heard a thing. I am sure they are swamped, not sure what the expected turn around time is and I may be calling again next week.
Ours werenset to expire 9/5 and are now 1/3. We have a trip booked in November so it is great!
Checked and my tickets were extended. Had 2 months added which was accurate..
Mine has been extended as well… End of September to end of January
Kat, just want to clarify that we don’t know for sure guests will only be able to book one Park per day — but we will be reporting anything we find out on that front.
Nicole, so far nothing that we have heard. We will keep updating on this.
Denise, the Florida Resident Discover Disney tickets have been extended, so it’s worth calling to find out, I think.
NJ, unfortunately we don’t know the timeline on Disney’s refunds.
Eunice, I’m going to have the team revisit this post to make sure everything is accurate. Thanks for reading!
Jodi, when the Parks first closed, it appeared Disney was going to send them out. But I don’t know what’s happening with that. If we find out, we’ll update.
Jeremy, I’m not sure your best move here. I think maybe a call to Disney to see if they’re still seeing it in their system might be a good step.
Question.
I commented. Now I’m getting a flood of emails. How do I turn this off? None of the links bring me anywhere but a place to subscribe. Thanks.
ShastLeLow, to my knowledge, we don’t send emails to anyone based on the DFB comments. The only emails DFB sends out are to our Newsletter subscribers. If that’s what you’re receiving, let me know, and I can get you removed from that list.
Christina, technically you got way more of an extension then you should have. Your passes expired June 1st so you only lost out on about 11 weeks that they were closed. But you got extended almost 17 weeks. There is nothing to complain about that. My passes expired at the end of May so I should have got an extension to the end of July but they were nice and extended it until September. That is a couple months extra then they had to. We all have to remember that they are doing the best they can with the ever changing situation.
Our passes (mine and hubby’s) have been extended from Feb 2021 to June 2021. Unfortunately, the passes for my teens have NOT. SO, we’re stuck on hold, 3 hours yesterday (no answer) and going on 2 already today (still no answer but holding on). We have a trip scheduled for May 2021, but we can’t reserve parks online because the teens’ passes are still only valid until Feb. I love Disney, but this reopening needs this quote from my favorite (and most underrated) Disney film, Meet the Robinsons: T-Rex : I have a big head and little arms. I’m just not sure how well this plan was thought through.
Hi,
Just curious if you’ve heard anything more about this? We’re still waiting for our extension and no one can seem to help us at Disney’s customer service. Have you heard of other people still waiting?
Thanks!
Lisa, I believe this is updated info that might help.
I am on the Florida Resident monthly payment plan for my annual passes. They charged my card in March however refunded that payment. I was not charged in April, May or June. I noticed yesterday our passes were extended for one month. They orginally expired on Jan 5, 2021 my account shows Feb 5, 2021. So even thought they stopped the payments for 4 months (this was automatic, you had to call if you wanted them to continue your payments then extend your pass 4 months). So, just a heads up, everyone on the monthly payment plan that had their payments stopped during the closure, will get an extra month as a THANK YOU! Now, what about getting our AP magnet in the mail? We had to cancel our trip in May. We had plans to go to Epcot for Flower & Garden. I want me Orange Bird magnet, ha!
