Walt Disney World is preparing to reopen theme parks to guests starting with Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom on July 11th followed by EPCOT and Hollywood Studios on July 15th.
Of course, the reopening will be accompanied by a number of new health measures to promote safety among both cast members and guests visiting the Resort.
Limiting physical contact is a primary focus, with physical distancing encouraged though the suspension of parades and fireworks upon reopening (to discourage large group gathering) and even utilizing things like contactless menus. And there is another way (among many) in which physical contact will be reduced.
According to an article by the Orlando Sentinel which features comments by Local 362’s leader Eric Clinton, cast members will politely decline if you ask them to use your phone or camera to take your picture.
This is something we experienced yesterday during an Annual Passholder preview for the reopening of Universal Orlando Resort, where team members were not permitted to handle guests’ phones.
So, if you are planning a trip to Walt Disney World when it reopens, you may want to be prepared with a game plan for those family photos! Selfie sticks, as a reminder, are not permitted in the parks. But you might want to consider using the Disney PhotoPass Service where PhotoPass photographers take your pictures using the service’s own cameras. (We will be sure to keep you posted on any potential changes to PhotoPass as information is revealed.)
