Now that select Cast Members are being called back to work after being temporarily furloughed for Disney Springs’ phased reopening scheduled for May 20th, one of the largest unions at Disney World has just reached an agreement about paid time off.
First reported by the Orlando Sentinel, the Service Trades Council Union, which represents 43,000 Disney employees, has secured paid sick leave for its members should they become ill and need to quarantine themselves.
The agreement was reached today for the Disney workers, most of whom have been furloughed since April 19th. According to the guidelines set in place for Disney Springs’ employers, all Cast Members will also receive three washable masks plus a thermometer if they request one.

Workers may call in sick if they present symptoms commonly associated with the virus without violating Disney’s attendance policy. Employees will also receive training and participate in monthly safety meetings.
