With so much uncertainty at this time, it’s important to recognize and celebrate the HELPERS! We’re seeing truly incredible acts of kindness and generosity during this time. Disney has even gone out of their way to recognize those battling on the front-line, from healthcare workers to local police departments.
In addition to the incredible work done day in and day out by healthcare workers, essential employees, and first responders, there are some seriously amazing Disney Fans who have stepped up in big ways during the health crisis. We want to take a moment to recognize those who have gone above and beyond to truly help their communities during this time!
Brooke!
We’re kicking off our Disney fan shout-out by shining a light on Brooke Prelovsky! The owner of the online shop “Bibbidi Bobbidi Brooke” typically makes SUPER adorable Minnie Ears and MagicBand & smartwatch buttons, but in recent weeks she has shifted her efforts to sewing face masks.
The result has been awe-inspiring: Brooke has made and donated nearly 3,000 masks in the past few weeks alone! Her story was even covered by the local news!
She has even inspired our followers from around the world to follow her example. Here is a testimonial we received from @sandy.dot.b:
“[bbbrooke] has inspired me to also start sewing masks. I live in Germany and now I coordinate a team of 9 colleagues across the country all sewing masks for health care professionals!” Her message to everyone: “Be kind and lead by example”
Carlye!
These days, it can be really easy to feel overwhelmed. Between navigating simple tasks like grocery shopping to finding ways to keep things lighthearted at home, having a reliable information resource is key! Theme park journalist Carlye Wisel has taken it upon herself to create an incredible, FREE resource guide known as her “Ultimate Bunker Resource List.”
This doc has just about everything, from meal delivery services to sites where you can purchase non-medical cloth face masks. The guide also has fun ways to keep the Disney magic alive as well as online fitness classes, coloring sheets, and other personal resources!
Putting a document together such as this one is a monumental task, and the fact that Carlye made it available for free is incredible!

Even More INCREDIBLE Disney fans!
We received so many amazing suggestions from our instagram followers of Disney fans who inspire them, whether they work on the front lines or they are making masks and other supplies to assist those in need. There were simply too many to include all in one post, so we selected just a few to highlight today!
First, we received this heartwarming story from @lydzoejordan on Instagram about her husband:
“My husband is a paramedic working in our local Emergency Department, he hasn’t moaned once at spending all day with COVID-19 positive patients and still comes home from his shifts to care for me as we are expecting our first baby in October! His face is red, sore, and painful from the mask he has to wear but he still doesn’t complain. He gets so excited to watch new DFB videos when they’re released and we’re already planning on when to take our baby to WDW! He’s a massive fan of AJ and ‘plastic cheese’!!”
Below you’ll see, as she put it, “My favourite photo of him from our last trip to WDW. Featuring his afternoon snack which I didn’t even get a looking at!”
Another story came to us from @grace.meyne, who wanted to nominate her incredible mom:
“I would like to nominate my mom Valerie! She has been an ER nurse for 20 years and is working so incredibly hard to keep our community safe here in Houston. After I tested positive for COVID-19 a few weeks ago, she had to take on even more responsibility to keep the rest of my family, including my 76 year-old grandma who lives with us, safe. Because of her meticulous planning and cleaning, everyone stayed healthy even with me in the house! She is the strongest woman I know and the biggest Disney fan out there. When a friend handmade this Mickey surgical cap for her while I was sick, she cried because she hadn’t had a moment of peace and happiness in so long. God bless all the essential workers during this time, and hopefully we can get back to Disney soon!”
We received this sweet message from @lauren02467, who wanted to give a special shout-out to her sister:
“My sister Leanne is a nurse in the ER at a hospital here in Boston. She is working nonstop and saving lives, and baking treats on her downtime to give to people (curbside) to make them feel a little better amidst the crisis. She regularly checks in on everyone to see how everyone’s holding up, when she should be the one people reach out to the most at a time like this. She also signed up for the RunDisney virtual 5K challenge with me to support Disney and to also train for the WDW Marathon Weekend 2021…running separately of course!”
We heard from @dizney71 wishing to send a special message about @hellotifni:
“[She] has been sewing up hundreds upon hundreds of masks for healthcare workers and uses the cutest Disney fabrics! She is a true hero and deserves to be recognized!”
And here is an awesome story shared with us by @stephpg19 about the generous work done by @poplinebling, who is “donating thousands of 3D printed mask savers for first responders so that their ears don’t go raw from wearing masks all day long. She’s incredible and doing this mostly by herself everyday for free!”
It doesn’t stop there! @ryanbucojr sent us the following message:
“I’d like to nominate my girlfriend Carmela, her IG is @created.by.carmela, she recently raised $900 and will be using the money to cater food for hospitals in NYC this week. At the same time she is creating home made masks out of old clothes and every day materials and donating them as well. We are tremendous Disney fans and go every year. We will be in Magic Kingdom on Halloween day this year if all goes [according] to plan.”
And here’s a heartwarming shout out sent by @cassi531_:
“My best friend Lindsey Cook! She has volunteered to work directly with COVID-19 patients at her job at a local hospital. She wants this virus to be gone and she felt like it was her duty to do something to help. She has worked many hours and I am very proud of her! Lindsey also loves Disney World so that definitely makes her amazing.”
@abbykaintz sent us this message about her generous friend:
“Hi! hope you are doing well during this difficult time! I wanted to nominate @faithtrustsawdust because she has donated supplies to make masks for healthcare workers. Her kindness resulted in over 100 masks to help those who need it right now when supplies are so difficult to obtain. She is so humble and sweet!”
And here’s a special shout out sent from @kristinaclaus:
“My sweet friend Marie is a nurse and not only is she doing her job she is bringing patients meals, sitting with them, and helping their families.”
@nicole_dubois sent this shout out for her incredible sister:
“My sister @alisondubois97 is on the front lines working as a respiratory therapist in the ICU. She’s a hero to so many and has remained positive throughout this whole crisis. Plus this girl owns more Minnie ears than anyone I know.”
We received a message about an awesome Disney fan @cloverilly, who is working on the front lines! This was sent from @artinmygarage:
“She’s a doctor working on the front lines in NYC! She has been treating coronavirus patients, working non-stop. She’s a true hero!”
@fnrogers sent us this message about an incredible Cast Member stepping up in big ways!
“Emily Lartigue is a cast member who started “cast member pantry” she has raised money to allow cast members to shop for groceries for free. She was on the local news channel!”
@_abbie_tucker sent a sweet message about @yubnubshop, who “normally makes mickey ears but has switched over to making masks and is donating all money raised by them to Meals on Wheels.”
@disneyboss23 gave a shout out to their mom:
“My mom has been making masks and organizing them it has been very crazy we made over 1,000 masks”
And we received this message from @jess91_12, who wanted to highlight the work done by @turnock_trio: “Jess is a theatre practitioner working in the UK NHS as a frontline worker and Tom is a British soldier and both crazy Disney and Disney Food Blog fans!”
@laurencmeyer1 sent us the following message about another awesome Disney fan who has brought a smile to her face during this time: “@waltsfashionhouse [is a] single working mama making masks when she can. Rachel is a great great great person! Also makes the most adorable headbands for any day wear and race days! Love her!”
@dianagbaez84 sent us this kind message:
“Thank you for this opportunity! I want to nominate @_themaskforce, a group that was started by Zomy my best friend, she took it upon herself to start sewing masks for all who needed them for FREE! Soon she received an overwhelming amount of support and now this group consists of ladies from all over Southern California uniting to make a difference and meet needs, from our frontline heroes to community alike. I’m honored to be part of this team. Together with 11+ seamstresses and coordinators we have donated 5,000 masks and counting! We had the opportunity to be at Disneyland [in] early march before its closure. Can’t wait to be back! Stay safe, Diana”
The final message we are sharing today came to us from @meagan.gillean, who wanted to give a shout out to James Bickham from Jonesboro, AR:
“We are dealing with quarantine and a tornado hit the city in March. He has been coordinating Operation Full Belly. Every night for 2 weeks he’s had the help of volunteers, donations and restaurants to feed the community over 2,000 free meals!”
We want to thank EACH and EVERY person who reached out to us and shared stories of loved ones who are rising to the occasion to help others during this time. We cannot emphasize enough how much your stories touched our hearts!
