Disney has announced that Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort in South Carolina will close at 5:00 PM on Friday, March 20th through the end of the month.
This temporary closure is in keeping with the Walt Disney World Resort hotels and Disney’s Vero Beach Resort in Florida, which will also close at 5:00 PM on Friday as part of the precautionary measures in order to promote the safety of guests and cast members. EDITOR’S UPDATE on March 28th: Please note that, since the original posting of this article, that the closure of Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort has been extended “until further notice.”

Originally, the 5:00 PM closure on Friday, March 20th, specific to Resort hotels, was provided to give guests time to make necessary travel arrangements. In Walt Disney World, the Resort’s four theme parks and two water parks are already closed (and will remain so until further notice, as of March 27), as are all Disney owned and operated locations in Disney Springs.
We here at DFB have been tracking the steps that Disney has taken around the parks to promote the safety of guests and cast members. You can learn more about that here.
