It’s time to mix things that shouldn’t be mixed: electricity and umbrellas. We’re back at Epcot’s Electric Umbrella to share the new Brisket Sandwich, a kids’ flatbread option, and a cup of beer cheese. (J/K, we don’t share beer cheese.)
Electric Umbrella is a classic Disney Parks quick service restaurant in Epcot’s Future World. It gets a bad rap, but I honestly am usually pretty happy with my meals there. It’s a large restaurant with plenty of seating (unless crowds are nearing peak, then you might need to take a lap to find a table downstairs, upstairs, or outside).
Condiments are available at a small toppings bar near the fill-your-own soda machines.
I dined with my son on this visit, so we’re taking a look at both the regular and the kids’ menu. Options for adults include some items that may be a little surprising in a counter service spot, including a Vegetable Quinoa Salad (which replaced the Veggie Naan Wich we liked here!) and a Mojo Pulled Pork Burger (which, hello, protein — see it here!).
Kids’ Meals include the Mickey Check Chicken and Blueberry Salad, the Mickey Check Uncrustables, a Cheeseburger, and the Three-Cheese Flatbread. These are served with a Dannon Danimals Smoothie, Apple Slices, and a drink. Juice, French Fries, and a Cookie can be subbed by request.
We went with the kids’ Three-Cheese Flatbread which is half of an adult three-cheese flatbread and topped with some blobs (presumably circular in a previous life) of mozzarella.
Look, this is a cheese flatbread, but there might be some kids for whom this is still a hard sell. The super crunchy flatbread isn’t pizza-like, and that fresh mozz might be a turn-off for kids just on sight. My kiddo eschewed this when he saw it, so I had some! 😉 It was fine — nothing super special, but the extra cheesiness gave it heft and there was definite flavor from the sauce. Noteworthy? No. But solid.
The Chocolate Chip Cookie offering for kids is this ‘gourmet’ packaged cookie. It’s nothing to write home about, unless you’re writing for Mom to make you some homemade cookies instead. 😉
Okay, kids’ offerings out of the way, let’s get into the good stuff! The Brisket Sandwich WAS A STANDOUT. It’s packed with brisket kept moist in a bath of au jus prior to being stuffed into this terrific, soft on the inside, slightly crispy bun.
While the bun can get a bit soggy from all that au jus, it’s WORTH IT. I really loved this, and have been wanting to go back to get more!
And then… there’s the beer cheese. I love beer cheese. And most other kinds of cheese, truthfully, but this beer cheese is really good. Salty, flavorful, and thick.
In fact, I recommend ordering a separate cup of the beer cheese for dunking your French Fries. Trust me: it’s worth it.
Dessert options for adults aren’t inspired, but they exist, and, and they’ll satisfy a sweet tooth in a pinch. The Croissant Donut is sold here, coated in cinnamon-sugar. On this visit, mine was dry and tough — definitely not flakey and buttery soft inside. So I think this is a skip…unless yours is somehow fresh.
The Chocolate Cupcake is a solid choice. This one was like a good quality grocery store bakery cupcake (which are pretty good, sometimes). Again: not inspired in any way, but the colors are pretty, and it’s a good chocolate cake/buttercream combo. I’m pretty picky about cupcakes and I wasn’t mad at this.
SO…once again, Electric Umbrella scored a WOW, a Meh, and a Pass from me — as it often does. I keep going back because 1. It’s my job, and 2. I usually find something epic here even if everything else is uninspired. That brisket sammie is worth it, though! I’m in.

I think it gets a bad wrap since there are so many better options for quick service food in EPCOT.
Too bad it’s going to be closing in a couple of months. I have always liked the place.
