It’s been a big news day for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge as the opening dates were released at the Walt Disney Company’s shareholders’ meeting earlier — but Galaxy’s Edge isn’t the only big development happening at Walt Disney World later this year. We’re talking, of course, about Disney’s Skyliner. And we’ve got a FIRST LOOK at unwrapped Skyliner gondolas on the track!
Just over a week ago we reported on testing of the Skyliner transportation system (click here to see more about the full-speed test!!), but at that time the vehicles themselves were still under wraps, clad in white to obscure details about the design.
Now we see the gondola vehicle in bright yellow with what appears to be white detailing and a logo. We’re also getting a better look at the windows and what appear to be vents along the top of the gondola.
From this close-up view, these vents appear to be cantilevered, but we don’t have any specifics. From what we know this is the only “air conditioning” currently.
Many thanks to DFB follower @BradleyTroll for the pics! We’ll be watching the skies for even more from the Skyliner!

What do you think about these new images of the Skyliner? Let us know with a comment!
So metal and glass box… in the Florida heat and sunshine… no A/C. Think I would have to pass. Or else pass out. I hope that’s not the case!
The Skyway gondolas were open and people couldn’t behave. It’s not surprising the new version is enclosed.
So are they going to be air condition or not
Just wondering how long it will take to get to the parks if you have to stop to load and unload every gondala…wondering if they will allow strollers and handicap carts which would take even more time to load and unload. Can’t believe how hot you will get if there is no a/c! Also with Florida weather in the summer don’t want to be in it during lightning!
Will ECV fit in them?
Not the best idea Disney has had! My son worked on these here at a ski resort and they were always breaking down! Recently, the skyway at SeaWorld San Diego broke down over a body of water. They had to rescue the passengers by lowering them down a rope to a waiting boat. Imagine having to be rescued from 100 feet up with little children……
Speaking of behaving – don’t want to be sitting in one of these when some parent loses control of their child who starts jumping around back-and-forth and the whole thing starts shaking! Bad news. I have seen some unruly children at Disney, and some parents who could care less. I will definitely not be riding in one of these no matter what. Kids or no kids! I’ll be on the bus!
My husband tried the new pasty at the Fish & Chips Shop at Epcot last night and wasn’t impressed. More mushrooms than chicken. Will go back to the fish next time. The Flower & Garden Show did not disappoint. Very nice as usual.
Diann, no word yet!
Tony, nothing confirmed on this either way.
Ah, the doomsayers! Wait until they are actually in operation until you pass judgement on their performance. Even buses at WDW crash sometimes due to human error. Roller coasters fail. Rides breakdown. Stay home and wait for a plane to fall on you! 🙂
Is there word of an early opening date for these? Just wondering as I’m staying at Art of Animation this June.
Tammy, no official word yet, but when we hear it, we’ll update ASAP!
We saw these going up last week. No ac but they generate air when they move. I am super excited and think Disney has out done themselves once again. Wait until they open and to pass judgement.
