Valentine’s Day is HERE, and we’re trying as many specialty treats at Disneyland Resort as we can before they disappear later this month. Rancho del Zocalo, in Disneyland’s Frontierland, has a thematic treat that might raise some eyebrows: a Chocolate Tamale.
Yeah, this is exactly what it sounds like: a tamale filled with chocolate-y masa, covered in chocolate sauce, and topped with cherry compote and espresso whipped cream. The combo of chocolate, cherry, and coffee is fine, but the chocolate tamale filling… is not so good. Four out of five tasters gave this a thumbs down.
Let us know if you tried this and felt differently!

Chocolate Tamale: Are you in, or are you out?
Not exactly the same…but Trader Joe’s had a chocolate tamale a couple of years ago, it was filled with raspberry. It was actually really good and I’m sad they no longer carry it. Too bad this one doesn’t sound like it would be a possible substitution.
