The Holiday Season has OFFICIALLY begun in Disney World’s Magic Kingdom with the very first Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party of 2018! This extra-ticket event will run on select nights (you can find the dates here) in the Magic Kingdom from now through December 21, 2018, and we are here LIVE to bring you all the festive fun!
Mickey’s guests will enjoy special entertainment like the Once Upon a Christmastime Parade, Holiday Wishes Fireworks, meet-and-greet with characters in their holiday finery, complimentary cookies and drinks throughout the evening, and more!
Tonight’s very first Party is sold out…
But that’s okay, because we’re bringing YOU along for all the very merry fun!! So, let’s start this holiday shindig, shall we?
Party Map
Guests at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party receive a special party map upon entrance.
Here you’ll find information about the Magic Kingdom attractions open during the Party. (Click the image to enlarge.)
You’ll also discover where the complimentary party treats (we’ll talk more about those later) are located, along with the entertainment schedule. (Click the image to enlarge.)
Be sure to come to the Party hungry, because there are plenty of dining options open, including some serving specialty snacks!
And if you’re hoping to grab a souvenir to remember the big night, you can find out where merchandise is located.
Check out the Event Highlights and Key to find the Parade Route, Magic Shot locations for exclusive PhotoPass pics, and more!
Off we go… and Ho Ho Ho!!!
But where to begin? Well, in addition to the complimentary cookies and drinks, there are also Party SNACKS available for additional purchase!
ALL DAY TREATS
Though we’ll be checking out Party-exclusive snacks this evening, we’ve got some holiday treats that are available not only during the Party, but for all Magic Kingdom guests throughout the day!
Ugly Sweater Brownie and Poutine Dog
You’ll find the Ugly Sweater Brownie and the Poutine Dog at Casey’s Corner!
You may already recognize the Poutine Dog as the Hot Diggity Dog of the Month, so we’ll be curious to see if this changes in December or if this means it’s around until the end of the year!
You can read our review of this Dog here in case you’re considering adding this one to your party list!!
And here’s the Ugly Sweater Brownie!
The flavors and textures are exactly what you’d expect… a dense chocolate brownie covered with bright, sugary frosting!
Cookie Butter Milk Shake
Auntie Gravity’s Galactic Goodies
is where you’ll find the Cookie Butter Milk Shake!
This one takes its cue from the Candy Corn Milk Shake from Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party in that you’ll find more than just the shake thanks to a marshmallow Mickey and a puff off Cotton Candy on top!
But this one also takes its cue from the Cotton Candy Shake in that the overwhelming flavor is vanilla, as opposed to a buttercream.
While it’s certainly not a bad taste and the extra garnishes are yummy and fun, you should know in advance that the flavors are pretty standard.
Peppermint Soft-Serve Sundae
You can try the Peppermint Soft-Serve at Storybook Treats on its own, or as part of a Peppermint Soft-Serve Sundae.
The Peppermint Soft-Serve Sundae is garnished with crushed peppermint and chocolate crunches on a straw.
Why the paper straw instead of just sprinkling the sundae with the candy bits?
Honestly? We don’t really know, unless it’s just to resemble a traditional candy stick. But it adds some nice minty flavor to the more mildly flavored soft-serve all the same!
Mickey Cinnamon Roll
And, of course, the Mickey Cinnamon Roll once again gets festive with red-and green icing at Main Street Bakery!
But new this year is the Sugar Rush Jumbo Cupcake ($6.99) which … well, it lives up to its name!
First of all, it is JUMBO, and the size alone guarantees that sugar rush, with its red velvet and vanilla base.
But, in addition, the icing has crushed candy cane in it, and Ralph’s gloves are mini chocolate-covered Krispie Treats!
We loved it… and so did a group of kids nearby! They thought it was the BEST.
Gaston’s Holiday Cinnamon Roll
Speaking of Cinnamon Rolls, Gaston has spruced up the Holiday Cinnamon Roll with red icing at Gaston’s Tavern once again!
Like Mickey’s Cinnamon Roll, the red coloring doesn’t indicate an additional flavor… just some extra icing!
Otherwise, it’s the classic Gaston’s Cinnamon Roll you can get all year.
Mickey’s Very Merry Berry Lemonade
Mickey’s Very Merry Berry Lemonade
is the Strawberry Frozen Lemonade Slush dressed up for the holidays!
Find it at Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe!
Red and Green Sugar Churros
And Churros with red and green sugar continue the Christmas-y color trend.
They’re served with chocolate dipping sauce at Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn & Cafe.
You’ll also find red and green sugar Churros at Churro Carts throughout the park.
PARTY EXCLUSIVE TREATS (And A Few You Can Get Even If You Aren’t Going to the Party!)
Below is the list of Party-exclusive treats… but look for the text in RED to find out how you can get three of the treats below as a regular park day guest!
Main Street Bakery
Right on Main Street, U.S.A., you’ll find two party-exclusive snacks in the Main Street Bakery! The Yule Log trend continues from last year with the Chocolate Yule Log ($5.99) complete with the decorative Party candy piece.
It’s a truly pretty treat.
More importantly, it’s seriously YUMMY… and custom-made for self-professed chocoholics. It’s incredibly rich and decadent.
And the Mickey Ornament Gingerbread Cookie ($3.29) is simply a colorful, frosted classic.
Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe
In Tomorrowland, Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe is serving up a Party-exclusive in addition to the Mickey’s Very Merry Berry Lemonade.
And there’s more to the Holiday Burger than the name implies…
Served with fries, this Holiday Burger is topped (and layered under) with cheese, stuffing, turkey, and cranberry sauce… YES, on TOP of a burger patty. It’s a burger topped with Thanksgiving dinner!
And guess what?!? You can get the Party-exclusive Holiday Burger ONLY by using Mobile Order during regular park operating hours! (During the Party, it’s available at the Cosmic Ray’s counter).
Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn & Cafe
The mix of characters celebrated on treats at the Party features beloved classic characters as well as new. Among those classics?
The Three Caballeros! They’re on the Spiced Chocolate Yule Log at Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe.
This flourless Yule Log is given a depth of flavor from a festively spiced ganache.
Feliz Navidad Nachos are also available at Pecos Bill’s for more of a meal.
It’s a turkey and black bean chili with queso that tops those red and green tortilla chips.
And you can get the Party-exclusive Feliz Navidad Nachos ONLY by using Mobile Order during regular park operating hours! (During the Party, it’s available at the Pecos Bill’s counter).
Gaston’s Tavern
Though the Holiday Cinnamon Roll is available all day at Gaston’s Tavern, the Vanellope Eclair is exclusive to the Party!
A chocolate Vanellope von Schweetz piece tops this colorful eclair!
It’s topped with Fruity Pebbles cereal for more color and a bit of crunch.
But it’s the filling inside that makes it especially tasty! It’s like a caramel cream, but with an emphasis on the cream.
This one is a surprise hit!
Sleepy Hollow Refreshments
in Liberty Square continues on with The Nightmare Before Christmas treats!
The Red Velvet Zero Waffle Sundae is a yuletide spin on this snack from the Halloween Party. (And you can get the Red Velvet Zero Waffle Sundae as a regular park day guest starting December 1st!)
And the new Sandy Claws Dessert is certainly… different!
We weren’t quite sure what to make of this at first, with the Jack Skellington white chocolate piece outside of his gift pack.
But tucked inside the bright red fondant is a cinnamon spiced cake with candy pearls, and it’s delicious!
Storybook Treats
The gluten-friendly Scrooge McDuck Eggnog Custard Dessert returns this year, topped with that Scrooge chocolate coin! You’ll find it at Storybook Treats.
All truths told, this custard topped with spiced chocolate cake and meringue wasn’t our favorite item last year…
… and we still recommend passing this one by, since there are much better treats at the Party.
Complimentary Treat Spots
Even with all that, let’s not forget that guests receive treats as part of the Party inclusions! Look for the markers on your map and in-person to find them. Your in-person markers are huge light-up peppermint sticks leading the way!
Guests entering the Party early (then through 8:00 PM) will receive a Red Santa Mickey Sugar Cookie on Market Street.
Stop by Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe for the Party classics: Snickerdoodles and Hot Cocoa!
Tortuga Tavern is where you’ll find the Soft Snowman Pretzel and Sno-cones!
Sno-cones are also available — along with Chocolate Chip Cookies — at Auntie Gravity’s Galactic Goodies.
Chocolate fans can stop by Friar’s Nook for Dove Chocolates and Apple Cider.
The Peppermint Crunch Cookie is available at Pete’s Silly Sideshow in Storybook Circus again this year.
In Liberty Square, you’ll find Ginger Molasses Cookies and Eggnog at the Ticket Office.
And Pinocchio Village Haus is offering a full variety of cookies, along with Fanta Fruit Flavored Soda and Cocoa.
Just pay a visit to Pinocchio’s to enjoy a bunch in one go!
Special Character Appearances
Remember, Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party offers chances to meet rarely seen characters. We met Jack Skellington in a new location this year: Town Square Theater! And guess who’s with him?
SALLY!!
On this, the first day of the Party, they started meeting guests at 4:30 PM. The Cast Members were unable to confirm if they would be meeting guests this early for every party, but no matter when you try to meet them…
… get ready to join the line!
Be sure to look for Mickey’s silhouette on your Party map to find all the special Character Greetings areas!
Party Entertainment and Dance Parties
A Frozen Holiday Wish
Don’t miss the gorgeous tradition of seeing Cinderella Castle illuminated with thousands of twinkling lights during A Frozen Holiday Wish!
Mickey’s Most Merriest Celebration
The Cinderella Castle stage hosts Mickey’s Most Merriest Celebration.
Singing, dancing, projections, and more characters than you can imagine in one place bring the show to life!
Check your Party Guide, since the show takes place at various times throughout the evening.
Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade
There are two chances to catch Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade: 8:30 and 11:00 PM.
This truly memorable parade is one of the reasons guests return to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party year after year.
A Totally Tomorrowland Christmas
It’s time for some Tomorrowland takes on classic holiday tunes with some characters that fit right into Tomorrowland for A Totally Tomorrowland Christmas!
Head to the Tomorrowland stage to hear “Santa Claus is Coming to Town,” “Jingle Bells,” and more performed with Stitch, Mike Wazowski, Buzz Lightyear, and a cast of dancers for a holiday that’s out of this world!
Club Tinsel
Get ready to boogie with some warm winter friends at Club Tinsel inside Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe!
Holiday Wishes
And, of course, a VERY special highlight of Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is the Holiday Wishes Fireworks Spectacular!
It’s simply stunning, as always.
Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom Card
Don’t forget to pick up your free Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom Card, which — as a Party-exclusive — is quite a collector’s item! This year’s card features The Tiki Room’s Four Cawing Birds!
Pick up the spell card at the Firehouse on Main Street, U.S.A.
Party Merchandise
Looking for a special souvenir to commemorate your time at the Party? Well, you’re pretty well covered! The 2018 Party-exclusive MagicBand is available (until they sell out, that is!).
The traditional Party-exclusive Limited Release Pins are up for grabs, too! Note that some are available for purchase only to Disney World Passholders when noted on the pin.
T-shirts and accessories, as always, make a fun souvenir as well.
Ornaments, mugs, and more make up the offerings.
A Very Merry Christmas to All!
Well, that’s a wrap on the first Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party of the Year! And with that, we wish “A VERY MERRY Christmas to All…”
“… And to All a Good Night!”

Are you attending Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party this year? Please let us know with a comment!
How exciting! We are going to one on the 16th Dec ! Can’t wait ! Love your videos. Has helped me with planning our upcoming holiday to Disney World .
IS moana at the xmas party?
Wow, enjoy yourselves everyone! I can’t believe it’s the first Christmas party already. It’s going to be a mad rush for those trading pins. I remember from when we were there. That ugly sweater brownie is a riot. I bet they’ll sell a lot of them!
Is there a Ralph and Vanillapi meet and greet this year???!!!
Thank you so much for the “breaking” report! We’re going the Sunday after Thanksgiving –and a Jack and Sally pic will make my nephew so happy. How do they keep Day guests out of that line when those characters appear early?
For a sold out Christmas party, how would you say the wait times were?
What a wonderful and thorough report of the first party! Thank you so much for all your details. We are looking forward to attending our first one in Dec. and now we know just what to expect! Great job!
Looks like lots of fun. Some of those treats look very moreish too and yay, for Jose Carioca and Panchito Pistoles getting some love along with Donald on the 3 Caballeros cake. (Now we just need and M&G at Epcot!) =) Have to say the rock candy / peppermint candy straws aren’t doing it for me though.
Also, it’s interesting to see the cookies being given out this year are all in plastic bags / wrap. Last year when we went they were still being handed out in paper napkins, I’m sure its something to do with hygeine but that’s a lot of plastic wrap all told, let’s hope its compostable.
Feliz navidad!
The plastic on the cookies is new. That is a bit disappointing since that means they aren’t freshly made.
Can anyone confirm if the yule log at pecos bill’s is gluten friendly? It’s not labeled as such but with the cake being flourless it seems like it SHOULD be.
I saw this party was a sold out event. How would you rate the crowds and congestion?
Thanks.
I’m going to be so broke and fat after the party – lol.
Did you guys notice what time they started letting guests in for the party?
Ashley, as a general rule they start letting folks in at 4.
Jill, we prefer to think of it as merry and jolly. 😉
Jordan, Disney Parks Blog just posted this morning that the Three Caballeros Yule Log is gluten friendly! Also listed at gluten friendly: the Chocolate Yule Log at Main Street Bakery and the Scrooge McDuck Egg Nog Custard at Storybook Treats.
Lynne, we did find it to be a little crowded. To give you an idea: the shortest character meet line we saw was 20 minutes, and lines for the complimentary treats were long at times — but those lines were way shorter toward the end of the Party, so it might be beneficial to get a bunch of rides and experiences under your belt before getting some free treats. Hope this helps!
Dez, we didn’t pay much attention to ride wait times (sorry!), but the shortest character meet time that was saw was 20 minutes.
Nancy, Party-goers will have wristbands that allow them access to the line. 🙂
Colt, they were not meeting at last night’s party, but they were in the parade. Characters meets are always subject to change, so Disney doesn’t provide a definitive list, unfortunately.
Essie, I love that Ugly Sweater Brownie, too! So funny.
Yosune, Moana was in the Tiki Room last night, but characters are subject to change. Hopefully she’ll stick around for every party!
Chrislyn, have a fabulous time! So glad the videos have been helpful!
Is it my computer, or is there no picture showing what attractions are open?
Megan, it’s in the post! I’ll try to link it right here!
Looks like so much fun! How do you find out who and where the characters are for the night you are attending the party? Do they provide a list? I wouldn’t want to walk to every character spot without knowing who I was even searching for. Thank you!
Could you provide a list of which characters we can meet at the party? I’m hoping for Judy Hops!
Are they still doing 2 parades?
Jane: yes! The first is at 830; the second is at 11.
Melissa, Disney does not release a list because characters are always subject to change. You can check with guest services or cast members working the event to see if they have a list on the night you’re attending. Have fun!
Klamb, Judy was there with Nick! But Disney doesn’t announce characters, as they’re subject to change.
Oh ok, good to know. I’ll cross my fingers that they’ll be there on Dec 4th. Thanks Sarah 🙂
No free Nesquik chocolate milk this year?
We will be in the Magic Kingdom during the day and also have party tickets for that night. Plan to check in at 4pm. What time are the cookies, etc handed out? I want to be sure I get a red Mickey sugar cookie!
Googe, that cookie handed out between the Chapeau and Tony’s, so in order to get it, you’ll want to go to the party entrance by Tony’s and make Mickey yours! 😉
We will be going to the Mickeys Very Merry Christmas Party on Nov 30th. We have the Disney Deluxe Dining Plan. Can we use our meal coupons and snack coupons on the special treats and meals? We plan on starting the MVMCP at 4:00 PM. Would the exclusive merchandise only for the MVMCP be available at that time somewhere?
Ford, the party-exclusive merchandise will be brought out closer to party time — by 7, usually, but sometimes starting around 6PM. You can use snack credits on some items!
How long do the character meet and greets go for? Is it better to do them at the end of the night?
Brittany, good question! Typically folks will line up for their must see characters right at the start of the party (or even before!), but we think the end of the night is a great time to meet them! Characters should be in place for the duration of the party, but if you want to be sure you don’t miss someone(s) specific, you might ask the cast members in that location about timing. Have fun!
We attended the party on 12/13/18. While we had a good time, and the kids really enjoyed it, it’s very difficult to justify the expense. The crowds were suffocating. While the ride wait times died down as the evening went on, the entertainment by the hub was a madhouse. We attended the first parade (we weren’t sure our kids would last), and I am so glad I didn’t take Disney’s advice of waiting for the second parade to be “less crowded”. We left during the second parade and walking down main street during the second parade it was insane. For the crowds that attend the tickets should cost half as much. Alternatively, Disney should cut the attendance in half and keep the cost the same. We received a guest satisfaction survey and rated the event ‘poor’ across the board.
So I’ve been to the last two parties in a row and I LOVE the Ginger Molasses cookies the best! So much that I crave them constantly… I noticed that they, like the others come individually wrapped, so I’m wondering if there’s a 3rd party manufacturer where I could maybe order some myself or are they exclusive to Disney? I would just like to be able to get them somehow and not have to wait for the next Christmas party.
