Now, I think we can all agree that both Disneyland and Disney World are magical places where vacation memories are just waiting to be made. But depending on your traveling group’s needs and vacation desires, one may be better than the other for your specific party. So in our latest DFB Video we’re talking about the differences and similarities in everything from Resorts to dining to attractions to parks and even more as we try to help you discover which of these two Disney destinations is best for you!

I have been to Disney World at least 22 times or more when I lived on the east coast. I moved to the west coast 8 years ago and in December 2015 I took my 7 year old granddaughter to Disneyland and I loved it. We stayed at Paradise Pier which is a DIsneyland resort it only took us 5 minutes to walk to Disneyland. The weather was beautiful with no humidity, it has a lot of the same rides,the food was great and you have a choice to eat in the parks or walk over to Downtown DIsney. I found that it wasn’t as exhausting as Disney World. My granddaughter has also been to both DIsney World and DIsneyland and picks Disneyland as her favorite.
Both WDW and DL have their charms. I had never been to DL until just a couple of years ago, but I’ve taken many, many trips to WDW. One thing I loved about DL was that I could walk EVERYWHERE. On our last trip, we stayed “offsite” at the HoJo’s, which is just about as far away as you can get from the entry and it was still easily walkable. Plus there was a great place (Mimi’s Café) where we could get breakfast, lunch or dinner on the way to or from the parks (sign up for their e-club and they send you coupons!). I did however love staying at the Disneyland Hotel, that was a fantastic trip – we overlooked Downtown Disney and the sun slowly woke us in the morning. I love WDW for the sheer amount of rides and eateries, but I love DL for the opposite! I’d go to either…right now!

I agree with your video for the most part. For me, two of the biggest differences between Disney World and Disneyland are the weather and advance planning.
I find Florida weather absolutely unbearable (way too hot, humid, and rainy) other than during November through February. Southern California weather is year-round good, with little rain and only infrequent super hot days. So, for me, it is important to travel to Disney World during the cooler months.
Also, in my experience, unless you really plan a Disney World vacation at least 6 months out you are likely going to be unable to eat at the most popular restaurants, and unless you book your Disney World rides at least 60 days out, you are going to be unable to go on the most popular rides. So, I think significant advance planning for Disney World is a necessity (and, frankly, a big part of the fun), whereas you could easily take an unplanned weekend trip to Disneyland and feel confident that you will be able to experience everything you want to.
Lastly, I think you will find that if you count out the sheer number of attractions in Disney World (excluding the water parks) and Disneyland, you will be surprised that the numbers are quite similar. Disney World has more theme parks, with more unique environments and locations, but doesn’t necessarily have a lot more attractions.

Hey! I’m a wdw regular who just made my first Disneyland trip last month and i LOVE the fast pass system at disneyland! It was so nice to do it the day of a and have the option of adding fast passes all day long. We didn’t wait for anything more than 30 to 45 minutes and rode literally everything!
