We had an absolute blast at the Behind the Scenes at Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto event at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort this week!
And are looking forward to sharing all the details about this new Special Event for the 2016 Epcot Food and Wine Festival in a review here soon.
But there was one thing from the event we simply couldn’t wait to share. We got a glimpse of the Haunted Mansion Hitchhiking Ghosts Tiki Mug that’s on the way to Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto!
In case you missed the hype, the Haunted Mansion Hitchhiking Ghosts Tiki Mug has already come to — and gone from — Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar in Disneyland. The mug sold out completely on its very first day (to the tune of two-hour wait times for Disneyland guests). And you can see why… it’s Completely. Freakin’. Incredible.

According to sources, it will be restocked in Disneyland’s Trader Sam’s, but not until “closer to Halloween.”
Given the super-fast sell-out, we had started to abandon hope that the Hitchhiking Ghosts Tiki Mug would be coming to Disney World. But we found out at the Behind the Scenes event that it will indeed be coming to Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto on the east coast! And we even got to see them at the event. (Check out “Shelly” from the Grog Grotto glowing in the background of the photo :D.)
Hitchhiking Ghosts Tiki Mug in Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto
No official date was given for the arrival of the Tiki Mugs — they could only say that they’ll be available for purchase when a shipment comes in from California sometime this fall.
A reminder: in Disneyland, the Tiki Mugs were sold for $30 each and included a specialty beverage by the name of This Chilling Challenge. Purchases were limited to two per guest. We anticipate the details will be much the same when the Tiki Mug comes to Disney World, though we don’t know for certain. What we DO feel quite certain about is that they will likely disappear from Trader Sam’s in Disney World as quickly as they did in Disneyland.
But still, the Hitchhiking Ghosts are indeed on their way to Disney World… and they’re DYING to meet you!

We spent $3,000 on a 3 day trip to Disneyland hoping to get a tiki mug…only to find out they had sold out before we got there…having hope that there will be some at Disney World when we go in November.

Tiki and Disney, two of my favorite things! We were at WDW when we found out about the ones at DL. Now we would be willing to drive 10 hrs each way to get them at DL if we could only know for sure when they’ll be available again!

My husband and I just recently came home from Maui, our favorite place. We’ve just started to collect tiki mugs for my husband’s den. His birthday is Oct. 28 and would love to surprise him with this mug for his beginning collection. We go to Disneyland every year and have a DisneyWorld trip planned for May, but there were no special mugs at the times of our visits. This would be very special!
To get the mug (while they still have them), you can go to Trader Sam’s about an hour before it opens to get on line for a wristband. The wristband guarantees you a mug provided you get it before midnight. You must go inside the bar (and have a seat) and order the Fog Cutter cocktail (though you can get the Fog Cutter in a plastic to-go cup so the mug remains in its box). I heard someone order a soda instead since they weren’t having an alcoholic beverage at the time, but I believe the price is still the same.

Went yesterday to Trader Sam’s and were able to get two each for my wife and myself. Same price with or without drink. I heard they sold out again later that afternoon though.
I think the mugs look INCREDIBLE! So fun, and such a perfect fit for Traders Sams ambience.
