Today, we head to the west coast for a guest review of Goofy’s Kitchen at the Disneyland Hotel. Let’s take a tour — courtesy of guest author, Liz Jostes.
For our family’s first trip to Disneyland, I booked breakfast at Goofy’s Kitchen. Since we were staying at the Disneyland Hotel and our flight home wasn’t until the afternoon, it was a perfect and convenient stop on our final morning on property.
Goofy’s Kitchen is located next to the pool area in the Disneyland Hotel, and a short, easy walk from the Downtown Disney District (for those not staying at the Disneyland Hotel).
Atmosphere
As you walk through the doors of Goofy’s Kitchen, you enter into a lobby and wait for your turn to check-in and pay for your meal (gratuity is automatically included). Then you are welcome to meet Goofy while waiting for your table.
We had 8AM breakfast reservations, and got to meet Goofy, Minnie, Chip, Dale, and Pluto while dining. Each character has their photo and kitchen title displayed in the meet & greet area.
We didn’t have to wait long to meet the head chef!
Tip: Take photos yourself if you don’t want to pay for a photo package.
We were seated shortly after our photo session. We waited just a few minutes for our server to take our drink order, and then we headed to the breakfast buffet.
While we were eating, music came on, and Goofy and the gang paraded around the restaurant.
The characters visit all the tables, too, for photos and autographs. Everyone is dressed in their kitchen finest!
Because we visited Goofy’s Kitchen in mid-October, all the food stations were decorated for Halloween. Goofy’s Kitchen is very dimly lit, so I apologize for the dark photos.
Eats
The brunch buffet was set up in 4 areas:
– a pizza, nuggets, mac & cheese, cold cereal, griddle items, and dessert area
– a fresh fruit and soft serve ice cream area
– a cold cut, cold salad, sliced cheeses, smoked salmon, and oatmeal area
– and a made-to-order omelet station and hot food area
The fruit and soft serve area included grapes, strawberries, melon, watermelon, and bananas. You had the choice of vanilla or chocolate soft serve ice cream, 2 flavors of sauce, cones and cups, and then a few candy toppings.
The hot food area had bacon, sausage links, biscuits and gravy, Eggs Benedict, scrambled eggs, roasted breakfast potatoes, and a made-to-order omelet station.
Kids (or adults) had the choice of Mickey pancakes, Mickey waffles, french toast, macaroni & cheese, and chicken nuggets.
The pizzas came with a few different combinations of toppings (pepperoni, cheese, Hawaiian), plus Goofy’s popular peanut butter and jelly pizza. My 9 year old gave that her seal of approval!
Oatmeal anchored one food area that also included yogurt & yogurt toppings, green salad & salad toppings, smoked salmon, and a couple cold salads like potato salad.
If you wanted cold cereal, you had your choice of four: Apple Jacks, Rice Krispies, Froot Loops, and Corn Flakes. You had a choice of a few types danishes and muffins, plus hot and cold desserts like bananas foster crepes, blueberry cobbler, bread pudding, and jello cups.
Overall
We all very much enjoyed our meals. The food was hot and flavorful, and you were provided a wide selection of options that’s sure to make everyone in your party very happy. We got in and out pretty quickly too – less than an hour!
Goofy’s Kitchen was a fun character experience with above average food. I’d definitely recommend it, and we’d definitely dine there again.
Liz is a blogger, marketer and social media consultant who has been bitten by the Disney bug. She and her family continue to enjoy their time together at Disney World, Disneyland and aboard the Disney Cruise ships, and now have their sights set to conquer new Disney frontier – Disneyland Paris!
When in Disneyland, do you head to Goofy’s Kitchen for a buffet meal?
When we went out there we only had time for one character meal – so we did the breakfast at the Plaza. But this looks like lots of good food too and I’d like to try it someday!
Was the Creme Brûlée French Toast still being offered for the meal? It was spectacular!
Never get to the DLR, but I sure enjoyed the report!
Essie — You’ll get there someday! I know it!
Anywhere that serves pizza, soft serve and mac and cheese for breakfast needs to go on my list of places to eat!!
