With Beauty and the Beast 3D hitting theaters this past Friday, Disney’s Soda Fountain is celebrating with a special movie themed sundae. My family and I hit the road to Hollywood to check it out.

Beauty and the Beast Sundae Table Topper
Almond Praline Ice Cream with a hint of strawberry sauce, swirls of whipped cream, and topped with a “Luscious” candy rose was the description.
However, as soon as it arrived at the table, I noticed that the sundae also had caramel in it! SCORE!

Beauty and the Beast Sundae

See? CARAMEL!
Although I’m still a bit sad about the fact that the Soda Fountain switched from Dewar’s ice cream to Dreyer’s, the Almond Praline that was used in this sundae was quite tasty!
I am normally not a big strawberry sauce fan, but it literally was just a “hint,” so it was not too overpowering. In fact, the hint of strawberry combined with the caramel and ice cream was the perfect mix of sweet.

Now, onto that “Luscious” rose. The candy rose that came with the sundae was really adorable. It was the perfect addition to complete the theme of the sundae. The rose was colored melting chocolate made from a rose candy mold that was presented on a cute swizzle stick.
I did have a bite of the rose and honestly it was nothing special. Not great, not bad; just not a lot of flavor. It did, however, get eaten, so no complaints here. I was just more interested in the yummy ice cream!

Overall, I think the following picture tells the story.

Empty Dish = Yummy Sundae
If you haven’t seen the new Beauty and the Beast 3D, I really recommend taking the whole family. My family was lucky to see an advanced screening (THANK YOU, DISNEY) and all 4 of us really enjoyed it.
Normally I am not a huge 3D fan, but the 3D used in Beauty and the Beast is absolutely stunning. The colors and scenes are so crisp without being “jump out at you” annoying. It was so wonderful to see one of my favorite Disney classics revamped into an even more amazing masterpiece than it already was.
Have you seen Beauty and the Beast in 3D yet? If not, I say get to it while it’s still in theaters.

I wish they offered these sundae’s in Disney World. The sundae looks delicious and the fact that it’s themed Beauty and the Beast makes it even better. Happy you enjoyed it!
Kat — Agreed! Would be fun to have a similar store near WDW! 🙂 Or maybe even added to Disney’s Hollywood Studios!
I love that rose that they put it in. Such a nice touch. Hopefully, they’ll eventually bring it to Orlando….maybe Downtown Disney?
When did they switch from Dewar’s? I was there about 2 weeks ago, and they were still using them.
@ Kat & AJ – That would be an awesome addition to DHS!
@Jeanine – A cast member told me several months ago that Dreyer’s was in and Dewar’s was out. I was upset especially because peppermint ice cream (my fav) was to become “seasonal” but they now have the Dreyer’s Peppermint. I will tell you this, the menus still say Dewar’s. I even asked about it last weekend. And unfortunately, it’s the truth, no more Dewer’s. Would love to see it back though. For now, we should all just take a field trip to Bakersfield and get some there!
I’m hoping to try this soon! The sundae looks great, although one based on an ispahan cake would have been sooo perfect,.
FYI, when I checked, the breakfasts with Belle were all booked.
@NotChris – I heard that the breakfast with Belle was really popular! Haven’t had a chance to check it out.
