Disney Food for Families columnist Erin Foster found some zero-calorie treats for foodies in Disney World!
One of my daughters’ favorite food-related treats at Walt Disney World doesn’t come from a snack cart or restaurant. Nope, our must-buy item comes from the Basin White bath products store at the Grand Floridian.
We stop there, or at the sister Basin store at Downtown Disney, every trip to stock up on birthday cake soap. It smells as sweet as cake, but with none of those pesky calories. Over the years, we’ve purchased several dozen slivers of “cake” to use ourselves or to add as a special something to friends’ birthday packages. Isn’t it pretty?:
While exploring the Basin stores on a recent trip, we found a wonderful selection of other body products that were either decorated with food items or smelled like food items. Any of these would make a sweet gift for the foodie girl in your life.
There are so many wonderful choices, it’s almost impossible to choose just one. While I love them all, I must confess that there were two soaps in particular that caught my eye this time. What do you think would happen if I mixed the two below together? 🙂
If you decide to shop at the Disney stores, be sure to ask about discounts. They often have special pricing for annual pass holders, DVC members, or Disney Visa card holders. And if you forget to make a purchase while you’re at Walt Disney World, you can also buy many of the Basin products online at basinwhite.com.
Wow, this is actually the first that I have heard of the Basin White store! It really looks amazing, and some really nice finds.
Thanks Erin!
I’ve never paid attention to this store either! It is definitely a must see now. Peppermint Mickey soap, oh, my!
On our last trip we took a “tour” of the resorts on the monorail that we have not stayed at and I loved this store at the GF!!! Everything smelled so yummy!
Nice review 🙂 I absolutely adored this place when we had a look last time. We only went in to pass time before our reservation at 1900 park fare and I’m glad we did! They’ve got some lovely stuff and it all smells so good – it’s too hard to choose between them!
Hmmm… I think this may be the perfect location to get teacher gifts when we are at Disney in March. Hubby may have to take my credit card away 😉
Their Pink Sugar salt scrub is incredible! I’m glad I’m going back soon because I’m almost out from my last trip. If nothing else it’s fun just to go there and take a look at all they have to offer. Their soaps make great gifts!
On my trip to Disney last year, I picked up a little gift box to take home with me. If you’re a fan of Lush, you’ll love these. I had 2 bath bombs, some salts and some Dr. Peppermint soap. It was too cute and very nice in the bathtub too.
Just when you think you’ve seen everything at WDW, someone shows you something you have missed. We don’t stay at the GF but have eaten there, sat in the lobby and walked the grounds dozens of times and yet never went into this store. How many things have we all missed at this Happiest Place on Earth? All the more reason to keep making the trek to, in Walt’s words, “the Florida Project”.
The soaps are beautiful, but my dog recognizes food at 100 paces and would wolf them down before he taste the soap.
Bath bombs!!! Oh I love me some bath bombs!!!
I don’t think I’ve ever been in Basin, but now I think I must! I love the hidden mickey soap- I don’t know how I would be able to pick just one!
WHAT!!? I tried to order the cherry soap online for my boyfriends birthday (he adores that soap and so do I,) and they told us several times that he had gotten discontinued! Oh my! Glad to see that it’s at the DTD store still. I better stock up in March!
^that the soap had gotten discontinued, not my boyfriend >_> ha!
