More news is trickling in about the 2010 Epcot Food and Wine Festival! Here are some great pics of the Food and Wine Festival slide presentation given at the D23 Flowers and Fireworks event this past weekend. These were taken and donated by Lori Abramson — Thanks, Lori!
New for the 2010 Epcot Food and Wine Festival:
Belgium, South Korea, and Singapore Join the Festival Marketplace
First of all, the most important news (to me, anyway) is that not only are Belgium and South Korea going to be new booths in the 2010 Epcot Food and Wine Festival Marketplace, but Singapore will be introduced on the World Showcase Promenade as well!
Looks like Belgium will feature steamed mussels, South Korea will feature “Bo Ssam” — lettuce wraps with a roast pork and kimchee slaw, and Singapore will feature shrimp cake with Singapore noodles!
2010 Food and Wine Festival Food Passports
And while you’re visiting those new marketplaces, you’ll now be able to keep track of what you’ve tried! The festival this year will introduce Food Passports, which you can use to mark off what you’ve sampled and even take some tasting notes!
3D Delicious Dessert Discoveries and Delicious Discoveries First Bites
Another new addition to the Festival this year will be 3D Delicious Dessert Discoveries, which will consist of a monster Illuminations Dessert Party every Thursday Friday, including endless sweets, coffee, cordials, and wine, along with a 3D, possibly Mickey-fied viewing of Illuminations (check out Sarah’s Flowers and Fireworks Event review for what this might include!). Note: While the Flowers and Fireworks announcement mentioned that the event would take place on Thursdays, a more recent Disney Parks Blog post mentioned that it will take place on Fridays.
And finally, those of us who are Food and Wine freaks will have the chance to buy our way into a preview of the festival — Delicious Discoveries First Bites — on Thursday, September 30th! I have no idea when tickets will be available, but you can bet I’ll be on the phone first thing once I find out!
2010 Epcot Food and Wine Festival Welcome Center and Ticketed Events
Of course, some of your old favorites will return from past Food and Wine Festivals. Here’s a look at what will be included in the Festival Center, and what will be featured as part of the Special Event line-up:
2010 Food and Wine Festival Look and Feel:
Every year, the Food and Wine Festival changes its stripes a bit with a new look and feel for the Festival banners, publications, and PR materials. This year, the 2010 Epcot Food and Wine Festival is celebrating its 15th Birthday, and that’s the theme of the new look and feel!
We gave you a sneak peek when we revealed that the festival website was being updated, but here’s an even heartier first look:
As you can see, there’s lots to anticipate with this year’s festival! We should be getting more information about events and booking within the next few weeks, so stay tuned!
And, don’t forget, there’s more news coming up on the Food Blog today about Hacienda de San Angel!
Yay! I cannot wait to try the shrimp cake on sugar cane. And the checklist is a much needed item. Looks to be a faboo festival this year! Thanks for the update AJ!
you are not the only one that will be waiting by the phone and call i cant wait this time around seems like it will be sooo much better not that last year wasnt good but its nice to have the 15th year and passports and desserts to celebrate more! 🙂 will be much awaiting this years food and wine!
One of these days I would love to be able to make it to this. Have never been to Epcot Food and Wine Festival or the Halloween event at Disney World. Hoping to make this a reality one day soon. Thanks for sharing the scoop.
Love the sound of those additions. And I really like the passport idea. I usually scribble notes in my F&W program or a notebook. This will work much better!
The Disney Passport idea is brilliant! Us fans have had to make makeshift lists to keep track for years! Bravo!
Thanks for sharing this information. We’ll be at the World during Food & Wine and are looking forward to trying out all the food booths! YUM. I like the passport idea, too.
elisabeth — I am SO excited to try out all of the new items! Can’t wait to do the walk-around and sample this year.
geraldine — Good to know I’m not the only one! I really really really hope I can get into that tasting event!
TAF — I think you and techydad will love it. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on it when you finally get to go. (Especially MNSSHP!)
Ro and Nate — I can’t wait to have an actual passport. This is will so helpful when I’m trying to write up the blog posts about the event!
Lillian — I’ll be sharing everything I can get my hands on! Don’t you worry!
I’m already scheduled to be at EPCOT on September 30th, now I just need First Bite Tickets!
Me too, me too! (@DVCMom)
Nice (c) on the first picture, lol. South Korea was sounding pretty tasty…if only I knew what the rest of the description said! And, I guess I’ll have to wait and see how they’ll make Illuminations 3D…I mean, it’s *real* so it’s already in 3D. Hmm… I like the passport idea though; and anything called a “Sweet Sunday” can’t be half bad!
Oh, or is it “3D” because of the title? lol. My brain doesn’t work right sometimes… haha
Emma — The copyright is hiding the words “kimchee slaw.” I actually did write it in the actual text of the post so the gaffe wouldn’t be so problematic 😉 Thanks for your comment — from Sarah’s guest post, the “3D” in Illuminations will be created when they give you glasses to make all of the bursts look like Mickey heads (though I like your “title” idea — why didn’t I think of that?!?) 😉 Might be interesting, eh? Sweet Sundays were introduced last year and were a hit — I might even make it to one this year!
My husband and I are doing our first real adult get away to the Food & Wine Festival. We are so excited and are open to all suggestions!
